As a photographer, I have always been fascinated by the stories behind the images — by the people who stand behind the camera, by their courage, their vision, and the way they manage to capture an entire world in a single frame. That is why being part of the world premiere of The Girl with the Leica felt particularly meaningful to me.

One of the highlights of this beautiful evening was having the opportunity to meet the wonderful Emilia Schüle, who portrays Gerda Taro with incredible talent, intensity, and sensitivity. Meeting her in person was a truly memorable experience. Her performance brings an extraordinary energy to the character, allowing us to discover not only the photographer behind the iconic Leica, but also the woman, with all her dreams, determination, emotions, and contradictions.

It was a pleasure to share a few moments with Emilia Schüle and to witness the passion and dedication that she has brought to this role. There is something incredibly powerful about seeing a historical figure you admire come alive on screen through such a compelling performance.

For me, it was much more than simply attending a film premiere. It was an opportunity to celebrate photography and one of the women who helped shape its history. It was also a reminder of how powerful an image can be — and how the story of the person behind the camera can be just as important as the photograph itself.
