The making of Bartolomeo Colleoni

I had the privilege to see and to photograph the making of a copy of the statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni, inside the Artistic Foundry Valese in Venice.

The model of the horse of Bartolomeo Colleoni

Thank to an ancient techinique, starting from a model, it is possible to reproduce any kind of shape, pouring the brass inside the shape left by a model

The hot brass is poured inside the shape left by the model

The original statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni is in Campo Ss.Giovanni e Paolo, in the very center of Venice, and it’s made by the horse and the knight. In this case too, the making of the copy of it consisted in making the different fusions.
