LIGHT AND SHADOWS IN DORSODURO

The decisive moment, when light, geometry and gesture come together

The decisive moment, when light, geometry and gesture come together

After a storm in Venice there is always a very bright light. From October on, until mid March, the Sun is much lower as usual and allows us in taking pictures almost all day long.

Here I was in an hidden Campo in the district of Dorsoduro, and this child just left his playground and was on his way back home. The difficult here was to shoot when the child was still a silhouette, which means in shadows, but with a very bright light behind, and at the same time to shoot at the right moment, when we can recognize the hand, the ball, the gesture. I like to see life, architecture, gesture, and how light plays with all of these things. Of course the architecture in the whole scene plays a decisive role to make a story happen inside a bigger “story”.
